New Species of Lizard Found In Western Ghat, Western Ghats is famous for discovering rare creatures. Scientist and other nature lovers say that in Western Ghat there will be many more creatures which didn't discovered yet.
Tejas Thackeray is the younger son of Maharastra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Akshay Khandekar, Tejas Thakre, Saunak Pal, Ishan Agarwal a group of four friends discovered '' Cnemaspis magnifica'' a species of Lizard, It belongs to the family of ''Cnemaspis''.
These four friends working in different organisations, Akshay Khandekar and Ishan Agarwal work for '' Thackeray Wildlife Foundation'' Mumbai, and '' National Center for Biological Sciences'' Banglore. Tejas Thackeray also work for ''Thackeray Wildlife Foundation'' Mumbai. Saunak Pal works in '' Bombay History Society'' Mumbai.
As per the news ''Dwarf Geckos'' is a species of Lizard in India found in Western Ghat and scientist say that these species are from 50 millon years back.
Akshay Khandekar said firstly in 2014 they discovered this Lizard in Sakleshwar Karnataka. They found it under the straight standing rock. As per the structure and colour they knew it that this lizard species will be new for scientific research.
But due to many species of lizard already discoverd in Western Ghat so they wont able to research on ''Cnemaspis magnifica'' lizard weather it is new or already existed.
In June 2018, Research Team started to collect different types of species found in Western Ghat for research,at that time they come to knew that the species they found are rare and new for research.
In February 2019 their team gave their research imformation to International Journal ''Zootaxa'' and after research of 2 months the head researches told them to publish their research.
These new species of lizard names ''Cnemaspis magnifica''. In Latin language ''Magnifica'' is ''Magnifico'' and in English it is Magnificent.
These species called ''Magnificent Dwarf Gecko'' in English because of its big body strucure and colour. This species are found on in Western Ghat and found only under the huge rocks. And intersesting thing is this type of lizard are active at night only.
''Cnemaspis magnifica'' is one of the biggest lizard in the family of ''Cnemaspis''. It is 58mm long and the DNA of this lizard is 9.1% different from other species of lizard, and they are way different from other species of lizard.
In India in an average most of the lizards are active in daylight and so they are called ''Day Gecko'' but this type of lizards (Cnemaspis magnifica) are active at night. In India 50 species of ''Cnemaspis'' category are officially discovered and they are found in Western Ghat, Pathar (Maysur), Assam and Andaman and Nicobar Island. This species of lizards are mostly dependent on nature and insects are their favourite food.
My opinion, there must be many more creatures still on the planet earth and lives and to be discovered. Scientists and researches are working every single day to find something new which world need to know.
